Now, I can't say I am a regular when it comes to cleaning my brushes. It just takes so long! But I am determined to do it more often because I know it is important to keep them clean! So, here is how I clean my brushes.
It is very simple really!
1. Firstly, I use the Squeaky Clean Brush Shampoo from The Brush Guard. It is very concentrated so you don't need very much to clean your brushes with. I take a pea-sized amount on to the palm of my hand for each brush and give it a good swirly wirly around until it starts to foam. I will do this until the foam starts to go white. I then quickly rinse it making sure I don't get any cleaner into the ferrule of the brush. This is the metal part of the brush. If you do get any cleaner in this part, because there is glue attached to the bristles to keep them in that shape, the cleaner can start to melt the glue and cause bristles to come out.
2. I only used to use the Squeaky Clean Brush Cleaner but have I seen many blog posts on how you can use Dr Bronner's Soap to clean your makeup brushes, so this is actually the first time I'm using this to clean my brushes. It smells just like candy canes, its delish! I do the same as step one but I think it's always good to do it again just to give it a thorough clean.
3. I then re-shape the brushes and lay them on a towel in my bath to dry out. I leave them to dry out overnight. By lying them down it ensures no moisture gets into the ferrule.
And that's it!
