I have been technically dancing from a very young age, from about the age of 3/4 but it was only very basic dancing (what can you really expect from a four year old!). I did that for about 2 years and then I decided I didn't like it anymore so I didn't carry on. I then restarted dancing in about Year 9 of highschool so I was around 15. I decided after many years of watching endless DVD's and dancing around the living room as a small child I was going to start Irish dancing. I started with my friend who also had a love of Irish dancing and I loved the class straightaway, I did it for about 1 year and then performed in my 1st show with the dance school, it was so much fun! As I was enjoying it so much, I started thinking about other dance classes I could possibly go to, this is when I started tap class. I don't know what I was doing before I started dancing again because I love it so much now and it is very important to me.
So, I thought I would show you what I keep in my dance bag when I go to my lessons.
So, I thought I would show you what I keep in my dance bag when I go to my lessons.
So, as you can see I don't keep that much in my dance bag but I have ordered a couple of things online for my dance classes. One of the things I ordered was actually a new dance bag, not that there is anything wrong with this one but I just felt like a change and I also ordered some Capezio footthongs, I've heard these are good for not only practising in when you are barefoot but also to support your foot whilst wearing dance shoes.
As for what's in my dance bag:
My Irish hard shoes which may look a tad strange on the picture, I strap my shoes up when I'm not using to keep them flexible, and plus they don't take up too much room in my bag!
I then have my tap shoes, these are the Capezio West End 2 Oxford's, these are the one's I have to wear in my tap class, they are different to what most tap shoes are like as they have a 2''Cuban heel on them, they also have the Teletone taps on them too.
I then have my ballet shoes, I have a black leather pair and a pink canvas pair just in case I forget my black ones for some reason.
I also have my Bobble bottle. which I water bottle with a filter inside the lid which I think is quite cool. It's really important to make sure you always have water with you to keep you hydrated!
I have my tape that I apply on the toe of my Irish shoes which help to keep me from slipping, I always like to keep two rolls of it in my bag.
I have my leather glue, because unfortunately the soles inside my Irish shoes have started to crack but I just can't get myself to buy some more but they do the job still and they're still really comfortable so I don't feel I need to.
The last couple of things are my phone which I would have anyway and a bobble just in case I forget to tie my hair up.
If I take anymore classes or add anything else to my bag, I will do an updated post but for now this is what I bring to my dance classes.
Grace x
